Catillopecten tasmani Dijkstra & B.A. Marshall, 2008 Description: Shell lightweight, fragile. Shape circular plus auricles; auricles unequal; left valve slightly convex, right valve flat. Exterior of left valve smooth, with weak commarginal undulations; right valve smooth with deep byssal notch. Interior smooth. Shell colourless translucent. Size: Up to about 8 mm in height. Distribution: Australia and New Zealand. In Australia, known from off Sydney in 1097-1143 m. In New Zealand, known from the Challenger Plateau and Bounty Trough. Habitat: Known from bathyal zone on soft sediment (sand, mud, foraminiferal ooze) (Dijkstra & Beu, 2018). Fig. 1: HOLOTYPE, Bounty Trough, southern New Zealand, in 1586 m depth.
