Leptomya pura (Angas, 1871)

Description: Shell lightweight. Shape inflated. Umbo on midline; anterior end rounded, posterior end truncate; shell twisted posteriorly. Exterior smooth dorsally, with fine, spaced commarginal riblets ventrally. Interior with posterior muscle scar clearly defined, anterior less so; pallial line and sinus poorly defined. Hinge as for family. Ligament in two parts; dorsal part exterior, ventral part attached in triangular pit behind cardinal tooth. Shell colour white, somewhat translucent.

Size: Up to 14 mm in length.

Distribution: Known only from Sydney Harbour and Moreton Bay, Qld.

Habitat: Unknown, but assumed to be in sand or mud. Rare, only about 10 specimens known.
