Iravadia subquadrata (Laseron, 1950)

Description: Shell small, elongate, apex blunt, aperture one-third of shell length. Protoconch of about two smooth whorls, terminating in distinct varix. Teleoconch of about 3 strongly rounded whorls, sculptured with spiral threads over whole surface. Aperture "sub-quadrate"; outer lip reflected outwards, with low varix externally in some specimens; inner lip sharp edged making ridge along columella. Shell transp-arent when fresh becoming opaque white with age.

Size: Up to 3.5 mm in length.

Distribution: Endemic to Australia; known from Port Stephens, NSW, southwards to Gerringong, NSW.

Habitat: Only empty shells are known, from beach washup, and from dredgings down to 11 m. Very uncommon.
