Family  Creseidae

 

 

 

Another group of sea butterflies, all members of the family Creseidae have an external shell that is straight and tapers to a point with a small constriction near the tip. There is no operculum.

Five species of this family are recorded from NSW. All have an external shell:

Creseis chierchiae (Boas, 1886)

Creseis clava (Rang, 1828)

Creseis virgula (Rang, 1828)

Hyalocylis striata (Rang, 1828)

Styliola subula (Quoy & Gaimard, 1827)
