Acrosterigma kerslakae Healy & Lamprell, 1992 Description: Shell moderately light in weight. Shape semicircular, length less than height, weakly angled posteriorly, umbo on midline. Lunule narrow, poorly defined, escutcheon absent. Exterior with 38-42 scaled radial ribs continuous from umbo, intervening spaces very narrow or absent. Interior with external ribs showing through weakly; anterior and posterior muscle scars clearly defined, pallial line not detectable; margin crenulate by external ribs. Interior white, sometimes pink umbonally. Hinge as for family. Ligament external, short. Shell colour cream-yellow with pink-brown spots or blotches. Size: Up to 35 mm in length. Distribution: Southern Qld southwards to Sydney, NSW. Habitat: Known from beach washup and down to at least 25 m depth. Most specimens are from beach washup. Moderately common. Comparison: This species is very similar to A. cygnorum but is consistently smaller. The interspaces between the radial ribs are very narrow and sometimes absent in this species but wider in A. cygnorum. As these species are currently understood, A. kerslakae occurs from Sydney northwards, and does not overlap in range with A. cygnorum. which is a southern Australian species occurring from Sydney southwards.
