Bathyxylophila peroniana Marshall, 1988

Description: Shell minute, wider than high, spire low. Protoconch sculptured with fine, crowded granules, with well-defined transition to teleoconch. Teleoconch up to 1.8 whorls; whorls convex, slightly flattened above and below very weak peripheral and basal angulations, sculptured throughout with numerous fine, spiral threads crossed by axial riblets that follow the curve of the outer lip. Umbilicus narrow, with strong, sharp flange commencing at bottom of aperture, and ascending steeply into umbilicus. Aperture D shaped. Outer lip thin with small indentations at peripheral and basal angulations. Inner lip thin. Shell colourless transparent to opaque white.

Size: Up to 1.13 mm wide.

Distribution: Known only from one sample from waterlogged wood, from off Broken Bay, NSW, in 714 m.

Synonymy: None

Remarks: See the remarks under Xyloskenea grahami for comments on habitat. This species was sympatric with B. iota on the wood sample from off Broken Bay.
