Conuber melastomum (Swainson, 1822)

Description: Shell flattened, sculptured with fine spiral striae and oblique axial growth lines. Columella callus reddish brown, generally reflected to completely cover the umbilicus. Colour fawn or grey, interior purple-brown. Operculum corneous.

Size: Up to 38 mm high, 36 mm wide.

Distribution: Endemic to Australia; Noosa, Qld, to Westernport, Vic.

Habitat: Intertidal sand and mud flats in bays and inlets; locally common.
