Condylocardia pectinata (Tate & May, 1900)

Description: Shell minute. Prodissoconch smooth, not separated from adult shell. Shape obliquely triangular, umbo well posterior to midline. Anterior and posterior dorsal margins slightly rounded, ventral margin smoothly rounded. Exterior with 16-17 strong radial ribs and fine commarginal growth lines. Interior smooth apart from muscle scars, margin strongly and coarsely crenulate. Hinge strong, of condylocardiid style. Ligament internal. Shell translucent to opaque white or pale brown.

Size: Up to 1.6 mm in length.

Distribution: Central NSW, southwards and around southern Australia, to southwestern WA, including Tas.

Habitat: Subtidal, 6-750 m depth. There are 15 lots in the AMS collection, only 5 of which are from NSW suggesting it is very uncommon in the state.

Synonymy: Condylocardia acuta Cotton, 1931 is a synonym, described from SA.
